Bonsai from Jacaranda

I purchased a Jacaranda seedling about 10 months ago with the intention of creating a Jacaranda bonsai. It is only growing straight up and not putting on any limbs. I pinched out the top and it’s growing many more leaves there. At this point do I just trunk chop it to get more limbs on the bottom? I’m wondering if anyone has experience with Jacaranda as Bonsai.

I haven’t seen jacaranda bonsai before - the giant leaf size and vigorous growth habit makes bonsai cultivation challenging.

A good time to reduce the trunk would be right before the buds open when the tree is coming out of dormancy.
