Finally had the courage to do a major trunk-chop on these 2 garden eugenia, lol.
Didn’t like the previous ugly T-shape, ever since I styled them 2 or so years ago. The T-shape was really bugging me for years.
So, finally chopped them down, and making them into regular uprights, with much shorter side-branches and pads instead, more columnar.
(I have 2 other garden eugenias shaped like this… much more columnar)
Shorter too… so I don’t need to get on a ladder anymore to hedge/shape the clouds/pads. (I don’t mind slightly taller deciduous trees tho… since they are easier/different to prune, because you just clip long branches instead of shaping individual bushy pads).
